asphodel meadows - songs of the dead

For UNBROKEN, an anthology from Grim Oak Press featuring a collection of art and stories from artists like Todd Lockwood, Donato Giancola, Julia Maddalina, plus myself, and authors like Brandon Sanderson, R.A. Salvatore, Jim Butcher, and many more.

This painting shows the in-between plane of Asphodel Meadows, a place where a person’s physical form at the time of death is represented by a statue and from that statue a great wind carries their souls into the roaring blaze of eternity. Some (lucky?) few with the gift of their mystical powers can fight against these winds of fate, as we see.
